Born and raised in the serene landscapes of Manitoba, Canada, my artistic journey began in the most unexpected of places—a small, quaint town in Alberta where my husband and I relocated ten years ago. These surroundings, rich with natural beauty, have been a constant source of inspiration and solace. Early Beginnings My love for painting was born out of necessity during the tumultuous year of 2020. As a new mother grappling with severe postpartum depression, I found myself in need of a creative outlet to help my mental health. It was during this time that I stumbled upon a virtual paint night hosted by a generous artist based in Calgary, AB. What began as a tentative experiment quickly blossomed into a deep-seated passion for painting, particularly with acrylics. A Passion for the Outdoors An avid hiker and nature enthusiast, I draw immense joy and inspiration from the great outdoors. The tranquil beauty of nature often finds its way into my artwork, merging with my love for storytelling to create vivid, fantastical landscapes. My art can be described as “Where nature meets fantasy.” The Fantasy Journey Though my love for books has been lifelong, my journey into the realm of fantasy only began in 2024. This newfound passion for fantasy art led to collaborations with a number of talented authors, officially licensing me to create and sell art prints, stickers, and bookmarks that bring their stories to life. Artistic Vision Today, I dedicate myself to crafting fantasy landscapes that echo the enchanting tales I read. My journey into art was unconventional; without a formal creative background, I initially worked as a unit clerk/secretary at a hospital in Winnipeg for seven years. It wasn't until after the birth of my son that I discovered my passion for painting. Presently, I balance my role as a Volunteer Coordinator with Alberta Health Services with my artistic pursuits, nurturing my creative spirit on the side. Expression Through Art My artwork is characterized by its fun, bright, and colorful nature. Painting offers me the best medium for self-expression, providing a platform to communicate my emotions and imagination. I find joy in the process of splattering, mixing, and employing diverse tools and techniques, becoming completely immersed in the creative journey. As my husband and I embarked on hikes and adventures amidst these natural wonders, I often dreamed of painting the breathtaking landscapes we encountered. With the artistic skills I've since developed, I am now able to seamlessly blend inspiration from both nature and the fantastical realms found within the pages of my favorite books.
