Artist Statement
Drawing is a kind of visual language of many presentations to indicate myself. Whether by chance or not, different images are expressed and showed in paintings concerning life or culture. All events experienced in life are connected with a film called consciousness and unconsciousness. This film is manifested once again through making up a print of works. Life itself is a story of a person, and at the same time the story is the matter of general or abstract things experienced in living a life. For example, the desire to gain absolute freedom, an impossible achievement in the real world, could be sought for. Yet, once the attempts continue to yield nothing, the minds also could end up frustrated about passed time. The square showed in my picture plane represents the limited life and substance put in artificial circumstance; the line and vestige collaborating inside speak of restricted freedom, while the ones moving outside exclaim about liberty and dreams. Like this, in my paintings, both of these special features placed in people match a square, an unfixed shape; a vestige and a line above a picture plane represents an original scenario about dreams themselves. At this time, shape and colour in all appearances come to be illuminated and viewed through the eyes again. What is fascinating is that this process lets people see shape and colour as real or abstract. Like dreams, art is a colourful blend of imagination and experience. Thus, when people dream, they can think of anything- real or unreal. Dream is the generative power of new creation; the transcending of time and place including the invisible dimension. In conclusion, I introduce a mime to you a language representing myself. It lets other people make unlimited imaginations liberal. Like dreaming or opening the soul, this makes my imagination different and free. Life is recorded by the world, its changes varying on the vision of society. My idea is to discover and express the views I carry; my paintings are extensions of myself, with accompaniments named colour and shape. • About Art Painting is an expression of feeling while I am living in this world which has representational shape and colour. First of all, nature is a part of my interests. Since nature has nothing artificial, it just comes out as itself; it’s like nature already knows what it is automatically. Like magic. The world has color, shape and line. I want to bring all that the world has to offer on my canvas with my consciousness and subconsciousness. It happens when I see nature, when I’m listening to music or when I’m in a different situation in my life that brings different feelings. These are all my sources of inspiration. So, emotional feeling and rational feeling are both important. I have my past but I cannot see that anymore in the present. My past would be in my subconsciousness. Even if I don’t remember them exactly, including all my sad or happy experiences, I have not forgotten my wishes that I could not fulfill. So sometimes it might bother me, but I want to put both sides of differences in my paintings, with colours, gestures, happenings, and lines. I think seeing is not everything. I’d like to express more than that. Sometimes life looks very simple but sometimes very tangled. Life is not going where I want it and how I planned. However I have come to accept reality and also I have to think about my wishes. I realize harmony is a very important concept. Harmony can give me peace, joy, and surprises. Everyday I see nature, meet another story and have time travel, and also listen to music. The feelings from them become my instruments. And I will conduct my visible orchestra. Eventually I am able to listen to my paintings.
